Marble

Although the cost can vary depending on the exact type and thickness chosen, marble is often less expensive than granite and quartz. Marble is a natural stone, so it is more resistant to sccratching, cracking and breaking than many other available materials.

Granite

Placing hot items or cutting food directly on top of a granite top will not damage this (it will actually dull your knives). Once sealed granite becomes stain resistant.

Limestone

Limestone is a very popular option for countertops this is probably due to its price, however due to being a pliable material it is easier to scratch or stain.

Quartz

Quarts are non-porous so it resists staining much better than granite, marble, or concrete. Also, this means that it will not harbor bacteria or viruses.
